Funding makes possible the purchase of teachers' manuals and student handbooks for a hands-on program in which children write and produce their own opera. The project is a component of the ABCs of Opera, a comprehensive education program. Funds for the grant came from the Lorraine A. Sutkus and Nancy Weisacosky Scholarship and Teacher Award Funds, the Nathan and Esther Karchmer Fund and the Marie Rosalie Maser and John Maser Memorial Fund.
