The Missouri Humanities Council has awarded a grant in the amount of $1,270 to Heritage Tourism of the Ozarks in support of the project Characters from the Past/Into the Present. HTO will use the grant to provide a training session for volunteers who portray historic characters in settings throughout southwest Missouri.
The board of directors of the United Way of the Ozarks has awarded more than $7,600 in grant monies. Recipients include Child Advocacy Center, Easter Seals, Natey Foundation and Ozarks Fighting Back.
The Springfield Advertising Association has honored five SMSU students with the club's annual scholarship award. The "Mentor Scholarships," totalling $2,500, were presented to: Dan Bennett, first; Marci Newsom, second; Carrie Chambliss, third; Marcus Sole, fourth; and Matt Pulliam, fifth.
