Nelson Nichols, of Nichols Construction Co., has been accepted as a member of the Business Builders Breakfast Club. Nichols Construction Co. is a design-build company that specializes in commercial, industrial and financial institutions.

Springfield 33 news videographer Steve Harris placed second and third in the National Press Photographers Association's quarterly Television Clip Contest for the Midwest region. Harris entered two stories in the copetition and both were honored. Harris competed against television news videographers from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma for these awards.

James H. Arneson has been included in the 1998/1999 edition of Who's Who in American Law. Arneson has been included every year since 1989. Arneson will also appear in the seventh edition of Who's Who in the World.

KOLR-TV earned a 1999 Muscular Dystrophy Association Broadcast Journalism Award for increasing public understanding of neuromuscular diseases. The station earned first place honors in the MDA Telethon Promo category. Lisa Moore produced the award-winning segment, "Godzilla."

KOLR 10 Newsbeat has received a regional Edward R. Murrow award in the Sports Reporting category from the Radio & Television News Directors Association. Rebecca Louis' winning entry, "Little Bears Fan," profiled a 4-year-old SMS basketball fan. The report is now entered for a national Murrow Award.

The local franchise of Snelling and Snelling Inc. was ranked 24th nationally for career permanent placements within the system of more than 200 offices for 1998.

Traders Market's Norwalk Furniture Gallery was nationally recognized as a top-performing store in several categories at the Norwalk National Convention. Out of 130 galleries in the United States, the local gallery was ranked No. 2 in highest sales per square foot, No. 2 in leather upholstery sales, top five in sales increase, and top 20 in sales for the J Raymond Collection.

Mike Wiles was recognized by AGCO Corporation of Duluth, Ga., as one of the company's top performers in 1998. Wiles' territory, which includes Springfield, had a sales total of more than $7.4 million for the year, vs. a goal of $6 million.[[In-content Ad]]
