A 24,600-square-foot retail shopping area, Nixa Centre, is being built adjacent to the Wal-Mart Supercenter site at 485 Aldersgate Dr., off State Highway 160. The land is owned and is being developed by Thomas Walker, of Retail Realty Group, Chesterfield.
The center will likely include 15 new stores and offices. Several tenants have signed on, and Walker is targeting national retail chains that tend to locate near Wal-Mart Supercenters.
The new stores will face south on Aldersgate Drive, but they will have visibility from State Highway 160, according to Walker. Nixa Centre will open after March 1, 1999.

In addition, Walker owns 13 acres behind the Wal-Mart store and will develop the Nixa Business Center there as an "upscale business park," he said. "I will be selling lots after the first of year. We're very excited about Nixa, and the city has been wonderful to work with."
