On the Edges Area News--Area Towns

The Santa Claus Express Train will bring its own kind of Christmas cheer to several southwest Missouri towns, including Republic, Rogersville and Strafford.

Dec. 19 in Republic, the train will stop from 9 to 10 p.m. at the Hines Street railroad crossing next to the Republic High School parking lot.

The Rogersville stop will be 9:20-10 p.m. Dec. 17 and the train will be in Strafford 9-9:50 p.m. Dec. 18.

Nearly 20,000 lights illuminate the train and accompanying cars. The train, operated by Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railway, stopped in 65 cities in 1997, but budget constraints have cut its tour to just 13 cities this year.
