BKD adds to Joplin office accounting staff

Jessica A. Boles, Todd J. Pefferman, Jeramie J. Sponsel and Dawn R. Strasser have joined the Joplin office of Baird, Kurtz & Dobson, certified public accountants, as accountants.

All are 1998 graduates of Pittsburg State University in Kansas.

Baird, Kurtz & Dobson is based in Springfield.

Booths now available for Nixpo '99

The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce Nixpo '99 will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 10 at Nixa Junior High School, 302 S. Main. Chamber members can reserve booths by filling out a registration form and paying $45 per booth to the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce.

Seventy-five companies will be featured at the show, which is held to educate the public about local companies, products and services.

Aire-Master hosts Business After Hours

Aire-Master of America will be the host of the Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event beginning at 5:30 p.m. March 25 at 1921 N. Highway CC.

Aire-Master received a ranking of No. 308 on the 1999 Entrepreneur Magazine Franchise 500 listing of "500 Best Franchises to Start NOW," published in January.

The company manufactures and distributes commercial odor-control products and sanitary supplies and provides deodorizing and sanitizing services to businesses.

The magazine ranking considered financial strength and stability, growth rate, size of the system, years in business, length of time franchising, start-up costs, litigation history, percentage of franchise termination and company financing.

Aire-Master was founded in 1958 and has its headquarters in Nixa. It began franchising in 1976 and has 40 franchises in the United States and Canada.

Chamber to sponsor Easter Egg Hunt

The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an Easter Egg hunt with the Easter Bunny at 1 p.m. March 27 at Nixa City Park. The rain date is April 3.

Students Go To Work at Nixa businesses

Several Nixa businesses have opened their doors to Nixa third-grade students hoping to learn about the world of work. The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce recruited the following businesses for the program: Mazzio's Pizza, Peoples Bank, Smitty's, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Micro Innovations, KFC, Aire-Master, Empire Bank, Meeks Building Center and the Nixa Fire Department.

This is the first year of the program in Nixa, which is modeled on a similar program done by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Springfield Public Schools.

"It was great for the kids, the teachers and the businesses," said Larry Perney, executive director of the Chamber.

11 companies file new business licenses

The city of Nixa has granted business licenses to 11 new companies during January and February. They are:

A&M Auto & Marine Upholstery, 1253 N. Kelly Ave. Unit 1, phone 725-7633. The company, owned by Adam P. Bentz, provides auto and boat re-upholstery services.

Allied Mortgage Capital Corporation, 705 Niangua Drive, phone 724-2604. The mortgage brokerage company is owned by Benno J. Capshaw.

Another Radiator Service, 1009-A N. Kenneth, phone 724-2666. Terry N. Taylor's company specializes in auto and light truck heating and cooling system repair and maintenance.

B & S Tractors, 423 W. South Street, phone 725-4380 and 725-9438. The company is owned by Samantha Smith and sells toy tractors.

Book Mark, 411 E. Northview Plaza. Owned by Sharon M. Powell and Genith Kincaid, this store sells new and used books.

Budget Framer, 212 N. Massey Blvd. (Fountain Plaza Shopping Center), phone 725-4286. Brian "Scott" Faught offers custom picture framing.

Joey Riley Limousine Service LLC, 602 W. Kathryn St., phone 725-6004. Limousine rental service provided by owner Joey Riley.

Kenney Fabrication, 208 N. Missouri St., phone 725-0324. A prosthetic fabrication services company owned by Debra Kenney.

Mad Jax Pizza & More, 264 W. Mt. Vernon, phone 725-0019. This new restaurant owned by Jimmy E. and Donna F. Hood offers delivery service in the Nixa area.

Memories in Gold, 404 Harrison, owned by Elizabeth Cloud, does jewelry repair with pick-up and delivery

services.

Smart Style is located inside the Nixa Wal-Mart Supercenter, 1102 N. Massey Blvd., 725-7984. Smart Style is a hair salon that also sells retail products.
