Route 66 Festival set for Sept. 18
Carriage rides, crafts booths, greased-pig contests, live music, dancing and a 5K run/walk are all part of the Strafford Area Chamber of Commerce's Route 66 Festival. The festival is set for 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Sept. 18 in downtown Strafford. A new feature this year is a combination cross country race for school children and the Strafford High School cross country team, and a 5K run/walk for the general public at Exotic Animal Paradise. Registration is $12 before the race and $14 on race day, and participants will receive a T-shirt, promotional items and coupons from chamber members. Race proceeds will benefit the Strafford cross country team and the chamber's Charlie Fund. A barbecue dinner for $4.50 will be available, and a street dance will be held 7-11 p.m. For information on booths or contests, call Tammy Choate, 736-2101. For information on live entertainment, call Bonnie McIntosh, 736-3113.
