Downtown sidewalk project completed
The city of Republic held a ribbon cutting Sept. 10 to celebrate completion of a sidewalk project on Main Street, which used 128.5 yards of concrete. Flag poles and planters were also added, for a total cost of approximately $12,000.
The sidewalks were a joint project between the Downtown Merchants Association and the city. In addition, storm water work was done on Main Street for a cost of $12,000.
"It looks so different from a year ago," said Christy Hermansen of the Republic Area Chamber of Commerce. "The Republic downtown is really something to be proud of. Every business makes sure their business looks good, so putting in new sidewalks and planters is just a bonus," she said.
