Posted online
St. John’s Health System has secured U.S. Olympic decathlon gold medalist Bruce Jenner to headline its major annual fundraiser.

Jenner will be in Springfield Oct. 10–11 to spearhead activities during the 29th annual St. John’s Sunshine Run, a weekend of run and walk activities for all ages, according to a St. John’s news release.

Jenner will first appear during a Friday pasta dinner served at Hammons Field by Italian chef Nicola Gilardi. Jenner will give a motivational speech called “Finding the Champion Within.”

The Olympian will then start three Saturday events: a 10K, a 5K and a 1-mile walk.

Other activities are a wellness expo and awards ceremony. All events take place at Hammons Field in downtown Springfield.

A full schedule of events and ticket information is available at www.stjohns.com/sunshinerun2008.

The Sunshine Run is a fundraising event of St. John’s Foundation for Community Health. Proceeds benefit local charities including St. John’s Burn Center and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.

The release said Jenner’s appearance is underwritten by PHCS Savility, a new network solution offered by managed health care preferred provider organization MultiPlan.[[In-content Ad]]
