Sarah Foster has been named president of Olsson Inc., effective immediately.
The announcement noted Foster’s elevation from executive vice president of markets for the multistate engineering and design firm, which has an office in Springfield.
As president, Foster’s role is to spearhead the delivery of Olsson’s services to clients and to take responsibility for the company’s growth and performance, the announcement said.
“Time and again, Sarah has taken on complex challenges and delivered results,” said Olsson CEO Brad Strittmatter in the release. “Her combination of experience, knowledge, care and drive is not only unique but foundational to who we are as a firm.”
Strittmatter previously served as president in addition to CEO.
The Olsson website states Foster joined the firm in 2018, working first in business development and then leading the firm’s western region. She then joined Olsson’s water practice before elevating to executive vice president for all Olsson markets in 2023.
“Olsson has an incredible foundation built on great people, strong values and a commitment to doing work that matters,” said Foster in a comment on the website. “I am incredibly excited about what’s ahead as we help clients solve problems and make a lasting impact on communities.”
Foster is based in Denver and has three decades of experience in the engineering and design industry. She has led Olsson’s employee resource groups for women and rising professionals, and she leads Olsson’s involvement in Engineers Without Borders, a nonprofit that works to improve engineering projects and practices in developing countries. She is president of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado, the website says.
Foster is a licensed professional engineer and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado Denver.
Olsson Inc. ranked second on Springfield Business Journal's list this year of the area's largest engineering firms. The company reported 117 local employees and $27.7 million in local revenue and $488.1 million in companywide revenue.
Recent and current local projects for Olsson include Renew Jordan Creek, the Springfield temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and multiple Springfield Public Schools building projects, including Bingham and Bissett Elementary schools and Pipkin Middle School.
