Richard Ollis, president and CEO of Springfield insurance firm Ollis & Co., has been appointed to the national board of directors for the Wellness Council of America, an Omaha, Neb.-based nonprofit that provides workplace wellness resources for more than 5,000 corporate members.
“Richard Ollis is one of those remarkable individuals who is uniquely suited to serve on our board," Wellness Council President David Hunnicutt said in a news release. "Richard is a passionate advocate for advancing the cause of workplace wellness to the nation’s employer community.”
Ollis will work alongside eight board members in the health and business sectors. According to the release, Ollis would be part of a charge to expand the nonprofit's member base.
The Wellness Council employs several services in an effort to improve the health and well-being of American workers, including seminars and webinars, certification opportunities and a database of more than 2.5 million articles, case studies, incentive campaigns, expert interviews and white papers. It was started in the mid-1980s by William Kizer Sr., chairman emertius of Central States Indemnity, alongside founding directors such as Warren Buffet, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, and Louis Sullivan, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, according to its
