Major oil companies have been sued in what is believed to be the first climate change wrongful death lawsuit.
Washington state woman Misti Leon alleges the oil companies named as defendants contributed to her mother's death during the Pacific Northwest heat wave in 2021.
ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, ConocoPhillips, Phillips 66 and BP subsidiary Olympic Pipeline are named in the suit.
