Friendly Welcome

The lobby prominently displays the company attitudes of “live,” “learn,” “work” and “play,” lit with LED and natural lighting. Haik’s dog Bunker is there to give a friendly welcome. “He comes to work with me every day,” Haik says. “Bunker’s 12 years old, and he’s the longest employee we’ve had.”

H for History

The conference room is designed as an introduction to the company – the mission statement lines the walls and old drawings, company swag and newspaper articles are showcased in a conference table. “It exemplifies our transition from where we started to where we’re at now,” Haik says.

Transitions

Employees can relocate with their laptops to tables and countertops, which Haik says helps them stay focused. Office furniture is from West Elm.

Designer DNA

The three principals get personal in their individual offices. Each has a floor-to-ceiling family photo, along with a quote to live by, featuring one of their grandfathers. Brent Stevens’ great-great-grandfather worked on an alligator farm and wrestled the intimidating animals, begging the phrase, “Keep your wits about you.”

Architect & Design: In-house

It’s all about collaboration and movement at H Design Group LLC. The 8,800-square-foot architecture firm’s office – an in-house project completed in 2017 – emphasizes a laid-back, yet efficient vibe. The use of glass walls and open doors creates an accessible environment for the 20-employee team.

“We want there to be less barriers for our staff, so they can feel like they can come talk to us,” says principal Rob Haik.
