Office Envy: BluCurrent Credit Union

Going With the Flow

Architect & Designer: Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective

In preparation for BluCurrent Credit Union’s move into its 43,000-square-foot operations center in early 2024, architect Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective transformed the former home of Mercy Health Plans at 4520 S. National Ave. The growing credit union had simply outgrown its former home at 1770 W. Sunset St., in operation since 2010, and the additional space was needed.

The center – which houses mortgage and business department offices and a full-service banking branch – has been open for nearly two years. Derek Williams, executive vice president and chief operations officer, said he and his team continue to appreciate their workplace.

“Every time we give a tour, people are like, ‘This is unbelievable.’ and it’s a reminder of what we get to work in every day. We’re so grateful, and we don’t take it for granted,” he said.

The best part, according to Williams: Everyone is under one roof, which was not the case before the building opened, and that improves efficiency.

“We genuinely enjoy each other,” he said of the 100 employees in the building. “Our values are very important to us, and we recognize that we get to steward this credit union for our membership as the main ‘why’ behind what we do.”
