Office Depot beats Q1 forecasts on cost cuts

Office Depot Inc.'s first-quarter profits more than doubled to $116 million.

Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations, were 16 cents per share. Analysts had expected 12 cents per share.

Revenue dropped 7 percent to $2.7 billion.
