O’Fallon bookkeeper pleads guilty to stealing $670K

An O’Fallon bookkeeper pleaded guilty to federal charges of stealing $670,000 from a trust.

Paula Smith admitted she wrote checks to herself from the D.E.W. Trust. She was working for an accounting firm that managed the trust.

Smith used the funds to buy vehicles, according to federal prosecutors.
