Obama visits 49th state; which remains?

Friday’s speech in Utah marks 49. President Barack Obama is just one state away from his personal goal of visiting all 50 states during his presidency.

But which state is left? South Dakota.

Obama did visit Mount Rushmore in 2008, but as a candidate, not president.

CNN reports South Dakota, while not yet on Obama's presidential itinerary, did play an important role in getting him to the White House. It was after the state's primary in 2008 that Obama officially clinched the Democratic nomination.

Both Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush also achieved the 50-state milestone while in office, but immediate predecessor President George W. Bush was one state shy. He never visited Vermont while in office, a state that voted to impeach him in 2007.
