Springfield-based OakStar Bank was the No. 1 lender of U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loans in western Missouri and eastern Kansas during the agency's most recent fiscal year.
The SBA's Kansas City District Office, which covers the 61 westernmost counties in the state of Missouri and the easternmost 28 counties in Kansas, reported in a news release this week that a total of $478.4 million in SBA-backed loans were approved during fiscal 2024, which ended Sept. 30. That comprises 972 loans made through the SBA's 7(a), 504 and microloan programs.
OakStar Bank issued 107 loans to lead the 7(a) program in the Kansas City District Office coverage area. The Springfield bank's total approval amount was $91.3 million.
The top 10 7(a) program lenders in western Missouri and eastern Kansas during fiscal 2024 are as follows:

• U.S. Bank, 86 loans, $16.7 million
• BayFirst National Bank, 37 loans, $5.6 million
• Commerce Bank, 34 loans, $6.3 million
• Regent Bank, 32 loans, $19.1 million
• OMB Bank, 27 loans, $11.8 million
• The Huntington National Bank, 27 loans, $9.2 million
• Northeast Bank, 27 loans, $2.4 million
• Newtek Bank, 24 loans, $12.2 million
• UMB Bank, 23 loans, $9.4 million
Jefferson City-based Rural Missouri Inc. was No. 1 in 504 loans with 25 approved totaling $30.4 million, according to the release.
