Oakland Police Department Chief Anne Kirkpatrick has been ousted.
Kirkpatrick, who's held the top job for three years, is the first female police chief in the California city's history. She took over a department that faced a sex-abuse scandal.
"There are a lot of improvements, but the disparities continue to exist and there are a series of other issues that have just contributed to losing the confidence," said Regina Jackson, head of the Oakland Police Commission. "We didn't think that she was going to be the most effective chief in Oakland."
