New York University's Langone Medical Center is removing the Sackler name from its biomedical institute.
The decision comes after Purdue Pharma, which was founded by the Sackler family, pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges for its role in the opioid crisis.
France’s Louvre Museum last year stripped the Sackler name from a gallery. Similarly, Tufts University has removed the name from a building.
