NYSE trading halt likely due to systems upgrade error

Two weeks ago, the New York Stock Exchange told trading firms and other subscribers it would be discontinuing some of its legacy systems. Apparently, the fix disconnected the entire NYSE, Fortune reports.

The NYSE has not confirmed why trading halted Wednesday morning, other than to say it was the result of technical issues.

The exchange went black for nearly four hours yesterday.
