NYSE owner considers offer for London Stock Exchange

Intercontinental Exchange, which owns the New York Stock Exchange, announced today it was considering an offer for the London Stock Exchange, Europe's biggest stock market.

Shares in LXE jumped nearly 9 percent on the news.

Deutsche Borse in Frankfurt also is said to be mulling a merger with LXE.
