Posted online

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who is running for mayor as a Democrat, was released from custody on Tuesday after being arrested earlier in the day by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Video of the incident posted online shows ICE detaining Lander at New York City's main immigration court.

"While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE," said Meg Barnette, Lander’s wife, in a post on X.

In the video, Lander reportedly asks the ICE agents to show him a judicial warrant.
