NuVox expands broadband package to Springfield

NuVox Communications, which has its headquarters in Chesterfield, is expanding its complex of broadband communications services to 13 additional cities, including Springfield.

Bundle service

According to a news release from the company, in addition to Springfield, its "Broadband Bundle" service also will be available in Akron, Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Indian-apolis; Kansas City, Mo. and Kan.; Lexington, Ky.; Little Rock, Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Tulsa and Wichita.

Dedicated access

The bundled service includes dedicated high-speed Internet access, "traditional" local and long distance telephone services, managed router service, Web hosting and unified voice, e-mail and fax messaging accounts. The company also provides Web page design and development.

"Businesses today, particularly small businesses, are looking for significant value when it comes to selecting communications services," said Mike Morey, NuVox senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Other services

Morey added, "The Bundle lets these businesses realize the full benefit of the Internet with high-speed access and Web hosting while getting other services such as traditional local voice and long distance."

Dedicated Internet access allows clients to eliminate lines used for dial-up access and also provides high-speed access for more employees.

Productivity

According to Dan Taylor of RTP Environmental Associates Inc. of Greenville, S.C., the NuVox Broadband Bundle "has ... helped increase our productivity. For example, we do a lot of government and regulatory searches, so the high-speed Internet access has improved the speed and efficiency of our people."

NuVox Communications is a facilities-based integrated communications pro-vider that was formed in November 2000 through the merger of two companies, Gabriel Communications and TriVer-gent.

NuVox serves 30 markets in 13 states in the Midwest and Southeast. The company's product portfolio includes WAN management, audio conferencing, re-mote access and digital subscriber line access.
