Nursing home deaths among Medicare patients rose by 32% last year, according to a report from the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services.
The report found roughly 4 in 10 Medicare recipients in nursing homes had or likely had COVID-19 last year.
Overall deaths jumped by nearly 170,000 from the prior year.
