Number of Missouri millionaires is rising

One in about every 22 households in the Show-Me State have liquid assets of at least $1 million, according to an annual Phoenix Marketing International report, which estimates the number of wealthy households in the country based on investable assets.

In Missouri, the number of millionaires is on the rise, but the state lags behind the nation. The rate of millionaire-households in 2014 was 4.59 percent, up from 4.43 percent in 2013 and 4.36 percent in 2012. Across the country, 5.21 percent of households held $1 million in assets or more.

Maryland posted the highest number of millionaire-households with 7.67 percent, while Mississippi ranked lowest with 3.81 percent.
