Nugget-loving teen bests Ellen DeGeneres' retweet record

Teenager Carter Wilkerson has overtaken Ellen DeGeneres' famous Oscar selfie for the most retweeted tweet.

Wendy's last month challenged Wilkerson to get 18 million retweets after he asked the fast-food chain via Twitter how he could get free nuggets for a year.

"Consider it done," Wilkerson tweeted back.

Wilkerson since has amassed 3.432 million retweets, ahead of DeGeneres' 3.43 million.

On Tuesday, Wednesday announced it would give Wilkerson free chicken nuggets, despite having not reached 18 million retweeets. The company also plans to donate $100,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a Wendy's-affiliated nonprofit charity created by the company's founder.
