NPR leaves Twitter over 'state-affiliated media' label

NPR announced it would no longer use Twitter after the social media platform labeled it "state-affiliated media."

The label later was changed to "government-funded media." Less than 1% of NPR's budget comes from federal funding.

NPR officials said Twitter is “falsely implying” the news organization is not editorially independent.
