North-side Macadoodles launching this week

Posted online
O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC scheduled a Nov. 18 ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening for its north-side Macadoodles store in Springfield.

In June, the company broke ground on a $2.2 million, 11,000-square-foot building at 3080 N. Kentwood Ave., a site CEO Tim O’Reilly owns just north of Interstate 44 and Glenstone Avenue. Macadoodles takes up 8,500 square feet, with the rest being used for a Tropical Smoothie Cafe, O’Reilly previously told Springfield Business Journal.

An emailed invitation to the 4 p.m. event on Friday states the liquor and convenience store opening will be hightlighted by a parking lot party.

Local musical artists The Last True Heathens and Mark Barger are scheduled to perform, and food trucks Momma Mary's Navajo Tacos and Twisted Mike's will be on hand.

O’Reilly and Macadoodles franchisor Roger Gildehaus are expected to be in attendance along with members of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and The Bull country music radio station.

The store is the second for O’Reilly Hospitality Management, which last year opened a Macadoodles in Republic. Kim and Brett Lorenzen also opened a Springfield Macadoodles in May 2012 at 1455 E. Independence Road.

The north Springfield site previously housed a Budget Lodge until it was demolished in 2011. O’Reilly Hospitality also is planning a $14 million Holiday Inn Express on the property.
