North American companies boost automation in first half of year

North American companies purchased a record number of machines in the first half of the year, according to the Association for Advancing Automation.

In the second quarter, companies bought 12,305 machines valued at $585 million. That's 25% more units than a year earlier.

"Companies need to get product out the door — and so they need" new machines, said Jeff Burnstein, president of the Association for Advancing Automation.
