Norman's Bridal to open Springfield location

Posted online
A longtime Lebanon wedding and formal-wear retailer, Norman’s Jewelery & Bridal, has signed a lease agreement with South Pier LLC, allowing the company to open a downtown Springfield location in early 2011.

Brenda Norman, co-owner of Norman’s Bridal, said the new 5,000-square-foot shop will be at 317 South Street, where it will share the ground floor with MODA Salon. Norman said she hopes to have the store be open for business by Jan. 1.

“The building has that urban feel to it with the exposed brick walls, and it was just a really good match for what I was looking for,” Norman said.

After 31 years in business, Norman said she is excited to more directly serve the company’s Springfield clients.

“I’m hoping that my Springfield location will be able to draw as many customers as my Lebanon location does,” Norman said.

Bo Hagerman, co-owner of South Pier LLC, said he thought his new tenants would have a big impact on downtown shoppers and retailers.

“Norman’s is the premier name in wedding dresses in the area and with them coming here, it almost creates a wedding district – it certainly will be an anchor for other stores in the area,” Hagerman said. “We are very excited. It’s a big win for downtown.”

Other wedding-focused retailers in the downtown area include Gracie's Bridal, on South Jefferson; Ella Weiss Wedding Designs, on East Walnut; and Frock Bridal, on Patton Alley.

The Norman family also owns McDaniel’s Bridal & Formal on South Glenstone. Norman said she plans to keep that location open, and the two stores will work together to serve local customers. She said McDaniel’s would feature dresses with a lower price-point, and it also will be utilized for storage space.
