Nordstrom stock rose more than 10% on Tuesday after a Reuters report indicated it might go private.
Nordstrom, which has declined to comment, is reportedly working with investment banking firms Morgan Stanley and Centerview Partners to explore the potential option.
Nordstrom previously attempted to go private in 2018.
