Damaged by falling profits and online competition, Nordstrom yesterday announced plans to lay off 350 to 400 people to cut costs.
The majority of the cuts would come from its Seattle headquarters. Departments on the chopping block include marketing, finance, legal and merchandising.
Expected to be complete by July, the layoffs would save the company an estimated $60 million.
Nordstrom employs roughly 7,000 corporate workers. OVerall, it has 70,000 employees.
