Allegiant Air flights between Springfield-Branson National Airport and Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Fla., begin today, with introductory one-way fares starting at $69.99, according to an Allegiant news release. Previously, Allegiant's flights to the central Florida vacation spot went to Orlando-Sanford International Airport, nearly 30 miles northeast of Orlando. Allegiant announced the switch Dec. 1, noting that the change would cut in half the travel time to several of Orlando's biggest tourist attractions, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld. Allegiant is offering four weekly flights between Springfield and Orlando, with service on Mondays and Fridays. The introductory ticket rate is for purchases through March 10 on tickets that must be used by Sept. 30, with unavailability on some days. The fee does not include convenience fees, bag fees or security fees, the release said. Allegiant serves four additional vacation destinations from Springfield: Las Vegas, Tampa Bay, Fla., Phoenix and Los Angeles.[[In-content Ad]]
