Nonprofits face Aug. 31 annual report deadline

Posted online
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is reminding the state's nonprofit agencies that they only have a few more days to file their annual reports.

State law requires nonprofits to file their annual report to the Secretary of State's Office by Aug. 31. Organizations that don't meet the deadline face a $5 late fee; those that don't file by Nov. 30 risk having the organization administratively dissolved.

Carnahan said that agencies can file their annual reports online at the Web site below for a $10 fee or can access and print an annual report form and mail to the state's Corporations Division for a $15 fee.

Organizations without Internet access can call the Corporations Division toll-free at (866) 223-6535 to request a hard copy of the form.

"We are doing all we can to cut red tape and make these filings more convenient for Missouri businesses," Carnahan said in the release. "I encourage organizations and businesses to file their reports as soon as possible and to save time and money by filing online."

Nonprofits that filed articles of incorporation in 2009 aren't required to file an annual report until Aug. 31, 2010.
