Nominations sought for Liberty Bell Award

Today is the deadline to submit nominations for Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association’s annual Liberty Bell Award.

The association will recognize a nonlawyer who demonstrates an effort in strengthening the effectiveness, understanding and appreciation of the American legal system.

Individuals in all fields are eligible. Past recipients have come from both the public and private sectors and from fields such as education, law enforcement and charitable organizations.

Each nominee must be known for one or more of the following:

• Promoting a better understanding of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights;

• Encouraging a greater respect for law;

• Fostering a better understanding of law;

• Stimulating individual responsibility; and

• Contributing to the effectiveness of institutions and government.

Nominations must be submitted to the bar association by 5 p.m. today. They may be submitted by fax at (417) 831-2842, e-mail at cristahogan@yahoo.com or in person at 1615 S. Ingram Mill, Ste. D.

Nominations should be written and include the nominee’s name, address, telephone number and the basis for the nomination. Individuals submitting nominations also must submit their own names and telephone numbers.

The association will present the award at its annual Law Day luncheon May 4 at Hickory Hills Country Club.[[In-content Ad]]
