The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is accepting nominations through Dec. 15 for its 2009 Salute to Travel & Tourism Awards.
Five annual awards will be presented Feb. 19 at the Doubletree Hotel:
the Pinnacle Award, which goes to individuals who have been active in and made substantial contributions to the local travel industry;
the Hospitality Award, which goes to an attraction, lodging facility or restaurant for demonstrating outstanding hospitality to the travel public and promoting local tourism as a whole;
the Diplomat Award, which goes to a government official, organization or employee that has significantly supported the local travel industry;
the Spotlight Award, which goes to an individual, business or organization that is not usually considered part of the tourism industry but has made contributions to advancing it; and
the Ambassador Award, which goes to individuals or organizations who generate significant economic impact by encouraging local tourism or securing a major convention or event.
