Nixon taps two to lead charge in keeping Rams in St. Louis

Posted online
With rumors flying about the St. Louis Rams moving to Los Angeles, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is asking a former Anheuser-Busch president and a Clayton attorney to help him make a pitch to keep the NFL team in St. Louis.

Dave Peacock, the four-year Anheuser-Busch executive through 2012, and Bob Blitz of law firm Blitz, Bardgett & Deutsch are charged with preparing a briefing to keep St. Louis “an NFL city” before the Rams’ Jan. 28 deadline to notify the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, which owns and operates the Edward Jones Dome, on whether they'll move to a year-to-year lease, the St. Louis Business Journal reports.

"These are the two people that you want to head this type of thing up," Nixon said on a Wednesday conference call with media. "We are very serious here and we will be presenting serious options to (keep St. Louis) an NFL city."

Nixon said a mixture of public and private funding would likely be needed, according to the business journal.
