Nixon releases $2M in tourism funding

Posted online
Gov. Jay Nixon last week released $2 million in Missouri Division of Tourism funding, money he called vital to the industry.

In response, Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Tracy Kimberlin said the release was well timed.

“The state’s fiscal year ends June 30. Releasing the $2 million now allows the Division of Tourism some time to determine how to best use the funds to increase travel to Missouri before the traditional spring advertising campaign begins,” he said in a statement.

According to the local CVB, the release of the $2 million restriction means funding for tourism has increased by over $6.2 million this fiscal year.

“With the wide variety of attractions Missouri offers to visitors from across the country and around the world, tourism continues to generate a tremendous amount of benefit to our state’s economy,” Nixon said in a new release. “This funding will help maintain tourism’s vital role in our economic engine.”[[In-content Ad]]
