Gov. Jay Nixon yesterday made a campaign stop at SRC Power Systems, a manufacturer of power system packages under the umbrella of SRC Holdings Corp. The trip also represented a visit to a campaign donor's work site.
Two weeks before he runs for re-election, Nixon was joined at SRC Power Systems, 4727 E. Kearney St., by former Neosho Mayor Richard Davidson, retired Webster County Associate Circuit Judge Daniel Knust and former State Rep. Maynard Wallace, three former Republican legislators who have endorsed Nixon's campaign, according to a news release.
During the visit, Nixon highlighted claims that his administration has focused on fiscal discipline and a bipartisan approach to the state's business climate.
“Here in Missouri, we’re doing things differently than Washington by working together to balance the budget without raising taxes, create jobs and move our economy forward,” Nixon said in the release. "I’ve worked with folks on both sides of the aisle to create jobs and get our economy growing, and that common-sense, bipartisan approach is paying off."
Last week, the Missouri Department of Economic Development announced the state's September seasonally adjusted unemployment rate had
dropped to 6.9 percent, a four-year low.
Yesterday's tour was led by SRC Holdings Corp. President and CEO Jack Stack. Remanufacturing Sales Co., an affiliate of SRC Holdings Corp., has donated $5,000 to both the campaign of Nixon and that of his competitor, St. Louis business owner Dave Spence, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
