Nixon appoints Webster County assessor

Posted online
Gov. Jay Nixon on Jan. 30 appointed a longtime Webster County employee as assessor.

Serving as deputy collector for nearly 15 years, Kathy Galbraith, of Marshfield, was chosen to lead the assessor’s office, according to a news release. She succeeds Jim Jones, R-Marshfield, who resigned in November in preparation for retirement, said Scott Holste, a spokesman for Nixon’s office.

Galbraith, a Democrat, has served as deputy collector to Webster County Collector David Young since 2000.

“Kathy Galbraith has demonstrated her ability in managing taxpayer dollars, and I am confident that public trust in her will continue as she becomes the new assessor,” Nixon said in the release.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Webster County had an estimated 2013 population of 36,466.
