Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday appointed a Forsyth resident as Taney County collector.
Mona Cope succeeds Sheila Wyatt, who
in November was elected Eastern County commissioner for Taney County.
Cope, a Republican, has worked since 2012 as chief deputy collector for Taney County and has past experience as a personal banker at First Community Bank of the Ozarks and in the insurance and financial services industries in Oklahoma and Alaska, according to a news release.
“I am confident her experience in this office will help her in ably serving the citizens of the county in this position of trust,” Nixon said in the release.
The Taney County collector’s office is responsible for collecting taxes for political subdivisions within the county that have state-approved property tax levies. The office distributes taxes from railroads, utilities, real estate and personal property to a variety of sources, including schools, fire districts, community improvement districts and tax increment finance districts, according to its
website.
