Nixon appoints Springfield attorney to state committee

Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Andy Dalton, counsel to the Springfield law firm Haden, Cowherd and Bullock, to serve on the State Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority.

Dalton was appointed to a term ending Jan. 22, 2012. Appointments are subject to Missouri Senate approval, according to a news release from the governor's office.

The State Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority is charged with protecting Missouri's environment, developing energy alternatives and promoting economic development research.

Board programs, such as the State Revolving Fund and the Market Development Plan, address the mandates of the agency.

Dalton was general counsel for City Utilities from 1996-2007 and was a senior partner and managing partner of Daniel, Clampett, Lilley, Dalton, Powell and Cunningham, for 34 years, the release said.

Additional appointees were:
  • Dr. Saleem Abdulrauf of St. Louis - Missouri Head Injury Advisory Council;
  • Lance Mayfield of Viburnum - Missouri State Unemployment Council;
  • Leo Blakley of St. Joseph - Missouri Western State Board of Governors;
  • Dr. Bridget M. McCandless of Independence, Dr. James J. McMillen of St. Joseph and Dr. Corinne Walentik of University City - MO HealthNet Oversight Committee; and
  • Penny Adams of St. Joseph and Dennis Atkins of St. Charles - State Rehabilitation Council.
