Nixon appoints MSU board student member

Posted online
Gov. Jay Nixon yesterday announced the appointment of a new student member to the Missouri State University Board of Governors.

Effective April 14, Tyree Davis IV is scheduled to serve on the board through Dec. 31, 2017, according to a news release.

As the student member, Davis is the only nonvoting governor on the 10-person board.

While Davis cannot vote on matters before the board, he can participate in deliberations and closed meetings, according to the MSU board bylaws.

A member of the MSU Student Government Association, Davis serves as a university ambassador and is working toward a degree in administrative management and interpersonal communication, according to the release.

Nixon yesterday also made appointments to the Lincoln University Board of Curators, the Missouri Western State University Board of Governors and the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors.
