Nixon appoints Christian County commissioner

Posted online
Gov. Jay Nixon yesterday appointed a Nixa man as the commissioner for the eastern district of Christian County.

Ray Weter, who had served as state representative for the 142nd legislative district since 2005, resigned his position with the Missouri House immediately following his latest appointment, according to a news release.

Weter succeeds Tom Huff, who resigned as commissioner earlier this month.

“Ray Weter is a man of great integrity who will work hard each and every day for the people of Christian County,” Nixon said in the release. “He is a dedicated public servant who understands the needs of his community and who will provide solid leadership as county commissioner.”

As a private sector employee, Weter served as a health care provider for more than 40 years, including 12 years as a respiratory therapist and 28 years as chief of perfusion services for cardiac surgery for CoxHealth.
