Nixa voters reelect one council member and replace another

In the city of Nixa, voters yesterday reelected Jay Ortiz to City Council and replaced incumbent Darlene Graham with Linda Daugherty.

In District 1, Ortiz faced two challengers and garnered 47% of the vote to secure his seat. Nathaniel Daily received 30% of the vote and Robert Jones received 23%, according to unofficial election results posted by the Christian County clerk’s office.

Ortiz is the owner of Eagle Pride Automotive LLC, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. Nixa City Council voted to appoint him to his council position on Aug. 26, 2025, Nixa city records show.

There were only two candidates in District 3, and Daugherty won 65%-35%. She is the chief operating officer of the Academy of Hair Design Inc.

Unofficial numbers from the Christian County clerk’s office showed 692 total votes in District 1 and 595 in District 3.

Mayor Jarad Giddens was unopposed in his reelection bid for a second three-year term.
