Nixa restaurant hosts 'Survivor' casting call

Posted online
More than 800 people are expected to visit Nixa tomorrow to answer one question: What would you do for $1 million?

Pairings Restaurant and the Black Cat Lounge, along with local CBS affiliate KOLR 10, are presenting a casting call for “Survivor XIII,” a reality television show that tests its stars' survival skills in competition for a $1 million reward.

David Bowen, production manager for KOLR 10, said the station chose to organize the casting call in the Ozarks based on the area's past luck with producing reality television stars.

“The folks right here are pretty independent, and we thought they'd make some really good candidates,” he said.

Pairings was selected to host the event because of its location and atmosphere, Bowen said, and because the restaurant's fairly new presence in Nixa provides novelty. The fine dining venue opened last summer.

Bowen said Pairings is a KOLR 10 client and entered into an advertising package deal with the station to correlate with the casting call, but he would not disclose terms of the agreement.

Lines for the call may form beginning at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, and registration numbers will be handed out at 9 a.m. Contestants must remain on the premises to retain their registration numbers.

Doors open at 11 a.m., and interviews with CBS begin at 4 p.m.

Alice 95.5 and KGBX 105.9 will provide live radio broadcasts 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Food and beverages will be available all day, and no outside food or alcohol will be allowed.

Applications should be filled out prior to interviews and are available at the “Survivor” Web page on the CBS Web site, www.cbs.com.

Parking is limited, and applicants are encouraged to carpool.

Pairings is located just east of the Highway 160 and AA Highway intersection in Nixa.
