Nixa promotes from within to fill city clerk post

Posted online
Nixa City Council has approved the hiring of a longtime city employee as its next city clerk.

Cindy Robbins, who has worked for the city since 1989, is tapped to succeed Judy Long, who is retiring in March after 30 years with Nixa, according to a news release.

Robbins, originally hired as deputy city clerk, currently oversees Nixa Utilities' billing department as utility account supervisor, a job she's held since 1997.

Nixa spokeswoman Jill Finney said Robbins will start training with Long as soon as the utility position is filled. Robbins' starting salary will be $55,000, Finney said.

A lifelong Christian County resident, Robbins also serves on the Missouri Public Utilities Alliance customer service committee, the release said.
