The state of Florida gave the alliance responsibility for managing all distribution sites in Collier County, which includes Naples, Fla., one of the first cities to be damaged during the hurricane’s landfall.
All donations to the area and other faith-based groups will be deployed based on assessments by the alliance.
The alliance volunteered at distribution sites following hurricanes Katrina and Rita and is certified to manage sites by the Florida Emergency Management Agency.
Alliance members began distributing truckloads of food, water and ice in Naples yesterday.
