Nixa hires football coach

Nixa High School yesterday announced the hiring of John Perry as head football coach, the Springfield News-Leader reports.

Chosen out of 43 candidates from nine states, Perry is the current head coach and assistant athletic director at Pearl High School in the Mississippi city of the same name. He's worked there for 12 years.

He comes to Nixa with a career 174-69 record.

Perry succeeds Richard Rehagen, the district's 11-year head coach who recently announced his retirement.
